At the time of the 1998 production/installation of the Schwidder-designed liturgical art for St. Mark’s By The Narrows, Prof. Schwidder was terminally and the work was completed by others under the direction of Schwidder’s stained glass colleague Mark Gulsrud (a member of St. Mark’s) whose glass artistry enhances the Schwidder design.
The exterior high Christ sculpture on the north/street side of the church offers a welcome to all. The birds accepted the welcome and over a decade and half riddled the plecko
with holes so that in 2014 the sculpture is removed and a Gulsrud designed cross replaces in 2015.
The interior liturgical art is one of the more extensive Schwidder designs including altar table, ambo/pulpit, credence table, sanctuary lamp, processional cross, baptismal font with attendant processional Holy Spirit totem, free-standing resting lion, and dominating all a large triptych retable depicting Cross of the Heart, Tree of Life Cross and Cross of Sacrifice.
